A Designer Infuses Her Vero Beach Home With Whimsy
Interior designer Britt Taner knew just how to refresh her family’s vacation home in the Windsor community of Vero Beach. After living in the house with her husband and two kids for nearly a decade, wanted to lighten and brighten the space. She began by lightening the dark cherry floors, painting some white and laying sea grass over others. Newly-painted white millwork brings in more light and helps showcase Taner’s dashes of pattern and tropical hues.
“Color makes me happy,” says Taner. “My grandmother was an interior designer, so I grew up with the wonderful colorful chintzes that she had.” As an homage to her grandmother, she incorporated Brunschwig & Fils wallpapers, like a lively palm tree print in the master bedroom. “It’s fun to lay in the bed surrounded by this Florida motif,” she muses.
The home’s mix of contemporary and vintage furnishings create an eclectic vibe, including the loveseats in the sitting room, that “were in my dad’s apartment when he met my mother,” says, Taner, who re-covered them in chartreuse linen. “I grew up with those loveseats, so it’s fun to see them in a new setting.”
