For more than 40 years, Inside/Out Showrooms has been a preeminent destination for luxury outdoor furnishings. Designers love it for both the array of high-end options (think Tuuci, Dedon, Tribù, Gloster) and the stellar service. It’s “a family affair,” says owner Catherine Trevigne, who has several relatives on staff. Here, Trevigne shares how to make the most of Arizona’s “year-round summer.”
How can people best enjoy the outdoors, even in the Arizona heat? Summer has always been a time to gather and relax—and Arizona is special because we have a summer that seems to last all year! We try to provide the best products to make the most of outdoor spaces, whether that’s with a living-room feel for unwinding, intelligent shade to keep you comfortable or firepits for enjoying cool evenings.
What products are exciting you? I love a table lamp or a grouping of lanterns by the pool or tucked into the landscaping. It’s calming and romantic. Umbrella and shade designs have become much more elevated and architecturally important to every project. Shade is essential in Arizona, but I believe it needs to be a thoughtful part of the design—not just functional.
How does outdoor living support wellness? Meditation gardens and “personal space patios” are far more than a trend. They represent something I think we seek in our day-to-day lifestyle, and the furniture in that space is just as important. It needs to be special for that person.
