Check In: Intercontinental San Diego
Over the years, San Diego has been redeveloping a waterfront site that was once home to Lane Field Park, former headquarters of the Padres baseball team.
The plan is for a lively area filled with hotels, shops, restaurants and outdoor gathering spaces. Capping off the project: the InterContinental San Diego hotel. Designed by John Portman & Associates, the 18-story building will boast 400 rooms featuring calming earth tones as well as city and bay views.
Glass exterior elevators, a Portman signature, will whisk guests to sun-filled conference spaces, a posh lounge and a rooftop restaurant. ihg.com
