Shag-carpeted conversation pits and a Jet Age-inspired bar aren’t the typical trappings of a corporate HQ—which is precisely why Chris White, CEO of Denver-based apparel brand Shinesty, green-lighted them for the recent renovation of his company’s new home base, a 5,200-square-foot industrial space in Highland.

“The Shinesty brand is all about forcing the world to take itself less seriously,” says Abigail Plantier, founder of local experiential creative agency Maximalist, who helmed the design. “Chris wanted the employees to feel like this was their house; a place where they can bring friends after hours.”

Plantier employed retro-style furnishings, dramatic lighting, tropical prints and the boldest of colors when imagining a series of spaces one might encounter at a glamorous house party. “In the lobby, where everything is blue and reflective, you feel like you’re in a pool surrounded by cabanas,” she says. In the berry-hued boardroom, staff and guests can belly up to the bar and take in the city views. “This was a refreshing opportunity to create a special world for them,” Plantier says.
