In the foyer of a Mediterranean-style residence, a converted coat-check console skirted, in a bold geometric pattern, doubles as both a place to stow jackets and as a fort for the owners’ two young sons.
According to designer Martha Angus, that tells you everything you need to know about the people who live in this San Francisco home.
“They are a young family with a great sense of style and color,” Angus says.
She and her team used that as a starting point for giving the interiors a fresh modern look.
For inspiration, they turned to the views and hues of the Pacific Ocean, which they reinterpreted as bright grassy accents in the kitchen, and deep aqua chairs in the sitting area. On the upper level, a spa-like feel permeates the master suite. There, the bedroom wallpaper and bathroom stone floor resemble wood grains, and a teak vanity and muted blue bed pillows keep the serenity flowing.
“It’s like the misty gray blue you see on a foggy day,” the designer says.
