This Southern California interiors boutique, Mood Indigo, recently opened right on La Jolla’s main drive. After careers in fashion and home retail, owners Dave DeMattei and Patrick Wade struck out on their own.

“We loved the idea of creating our own brand, and the shop really does two things: It’s a local resource for designers and homeowners and it’s an investment in our neighborhood,” says DeMattei. “The friendly atmosphere here is what sold us on this area—besides its beauty.” (The couple and their dachshund, Penny, live just a few blocks away.)

International offerings include accessories from Casa Lopez Paris and Montes Doggett, hand-dyed pillows from West African company Tensira and wool blankets from TBCo in Scotland. The shop also features local artists including photographer Chad Van Herpe, while vintage pieces round out the mix. “Furnishing the shop is like having another home,” adds Wade. “We’ve filled it with all the things we love.”
