From waterfront grand beauties to renovated historic homes full of elegance and charm, we take a tour of three homes that encapsulate the diversity of luxury homes in Seattle. These abodes shine with their design, come rain or shine.

A Renovated 1910 Historic Abode Writing Its New (Chic) Chapter In The Present Tense

Interior Designer Alix Day completely understood why her clients had on rose-colored glasses when first viewing the Seattle property they ultimately purchased. Situated on a sloped lot in the charming Madrona neighborhood, the back of the house overlooks a canopy of trees and boasts views of Lake Washington and, on clear days, Mount Rainier. But while it did have many virtues, the structure required significant interventions. So, the designer embarked on an extensive remodel that retained only the framing, roofline and façade’s leaded windows.

A Waterfront Multigenerational Home Reinvented With Great Materials And Contemporary Verve

For this Seattle waterfront beauty, Johnston Architects and Christie Grove Interiors were tasked with reimagining a single-story house with a daylight basement into a larger residence suited for the newly expanded family, while also introducing classic design elements and preserving the home’s modern DNA. The result is a home flooded with light and tied more tightly than ever to its waterfront landscape.

A Beachfront Stunner With Minimalist Architecture That Strikes A Serene Note

“The owners were very interested in a warm, minimalist design solution and were drawn to the notion of a jewel box perched over the site,” notes architect Joe Herrin of Heliotrope Architects of this beachfront home the owners had purchased in the same block where their grandparents and parents had lived. The result is a structure built like a box atop two ground-level boxes and appears to be elegantly floating on the site.
