NYCxDESIGN is gearing up for exciting programming to usher in a new decade of innovation and creativity across the industry. Running May 12-20, the 8th annual celebration of design will feature a multitude of can’t-miss events highlighting the latest in architecture, art, furniture and lighting across New York City’s five boroughs. Here’s why this year’s edition is one worth noting.

UPDATE: 03/17/20 – Due to growing concern surrounding COVID-19, the May festival is being suspended. NYCxDESIGN will instead present programming this October, timed to align with a month of significant design events planned across the city. The NYCxDESIGN Awards program will continue to honor the design community in May, as planned, with virtual programming followed by a fall live event.

1. The schedule was made with you in mind.

NYCxDESIGN 2020 will last nine days instead of 13. Featuring experiential displays, workshops, installations, retail and more, the curated lineup allows for ease of planning when it comes to making your checklist of must-sees. Plus, an abridged timeline permits for more manageable arrangements for those traveling into the city.

2. There will be more to see (and hear!)

2020 marks the first year with SANDOW at the helm of operations. Committed to upholding the festival’s status as the premier design event of the year, the innovative media brand is working closely with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), plus strategic partners, to expand and elevate NYCxDESIGN as a go-to for inspiration, networking and emerging talent. New resources include a series of talks and podcasts, as well as a biannual magazine.

3. You’ll be in good company.

More than 300,000 people attended last year’s 400-plus events, with about 30 percent of those being out-of-towners. The festival not only offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the city’s creative epicenter (the architecture, museums and galleries are just the start!); it allows them to mix and mingle with like-minded innovators from various disciplines and communities.

SANDOW is the parent company of Luxe Interiors + Design as well as other luxury publications including Interior Design, Metropolis, Galerie and NewBeauty.
