There’s no shortage of can’t-miss events in this year’s NYCxDESIGN lineup. New to the annual celebration is Borough Days, and as the name suggests, the special initiative will give each area of New York City the time to shine.

UPDATE: 03/17/20 – Due to growing concern surrounding COVID-19, the May festival is being suspended. NYCxDESIGN will instead present programming this October, timed to align with a month of significant design events planned across the city. The NYCxDESIGN Awards program will continue to honor the design community in May, as planned, with virtual programming followed by a fall live event.

Previously:

Highlighting talent and innovation in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx, the five-day program encourages designers to open their doors to mingle with both the trade and attendees.

Beginning with a spotlight on Queens on May 14 and wrapping up with a nod to the Bronx on May 20, the series will feature special screenings in partnership with the Architecture and Design Film Festival, as well panels and a recording studio that will allow the design community to voice their thoughts on a variety of topics.

Events and engagements have been booked at such places as the Museum of the Moving Image, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Hudson Yards, the Design Pavilion in Times Square, and the New York Botanical Garden.

The launch of Borough Days marks an exciting new chapter for NYCxDESIGN, which is entering its 8th year. 2020 programming, running May 12-20, will feature nine days of events instead of 14, with the abridged timeline architected to permit for more manageable arrangements for visiting attendees. In addition to Borough Days, highly anticipated events include the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and WantedDesign Manhattan.
