From paint to hardware to lighting, welcome the fall season with rich finishes and accents.
Barry Dixon for Arteriors
For his latest collection with Arteriors—a trove of sculptural furniture, lighting, wall decor and accessories—interior designer Barry Dixon looked to the landscape surrounding his historic Virginia estate. “The Muscadine floor lamp (shown right) was imagined from tangles of wild muscadine vines in the wooded areas, and I gathered leaves from an ancient oak for the Chene chandelier, pendant and sconce,” Dixon says. Added to the mix are contemporary silhouettes and designs that takes cues from history. But there are playful pieces, too, like the Grenouille frog lamp inspired by a vase belonging to Dixon’s grandmother. “One doesn’t need to be a psychologist to understand the merits of living with nature,” the designer says. “Surrounding ourselves with even the abstracted beauty of the natural world inside our homes is a comforting balm for the soul.”
Schumacher x Modern Matter
“As a creative company, we’ve long been inspired by Schumacher’s history and design legacy,” says Modern Matter Chief Creative Officer Kat Litton, calling the brands’ collaboration a “natural fit.” Comprising both cabinetry and window hardware, the Schumacher x Modern Matter collection is rooted in artful forms, from leafy shapes to orbs and softened squares, crafted from solid brass and available in four finishes—including antique nickel, developed exclusively for this collaboration. Cabinetry pieces include knobs, backplates and pulls, while window offerings feature curtain rods, finials and endcaps. “Our new partnership has been a dream,” adds Schumacher Creative Director Dara Caponigro. “They understood what we were after in creating a collection that feels classic and of the moment all at once.”
Sherwin-Williams’ Emerald Symmetry
Sustainability and performance blend into one premium paint with Sherwin-Williams’ latest interior line, Emerald Symmetry. The zero-VOC formula is certified for low chemical emissions, offering wellness-focused clients an advanced plant-based technology. “Emerald Symmetry represents a new chapter,” says Dennis Fiorilli, senior director of product excellence at Sherwin-Williams. “We wanted to create a product that offers the sophistication designers expect—from rich color and a flawless finish to enduring performance—while embracing a more mindful approach to materials.” Designed to conceal existing colors and smooth minor imperfections with fewer coats, the paint is formulated for durability (it’s scrubbable and stain-resistant), making it ideal for high-traffic areas. “Sustainability is not a compromise. It is an enhancement that elevates the overall experience of a space,” Fiorilli adds.
